  15. ABSTRACT:
  16.  
  17. NetWare Navigator 3.0 (NN) update.  To access: 1) Copy NN30C.EXE to the root
  18. of SYS: vol on the NN Distribution Server.  2) Decompress the file by typing:
  19. NN30C. 3) Press Y to overwrite duplicate files. 4) If you have loaded the new
  20. SMS TSAs and cannot use NN, unload the old NN NLMs (DJOB*.NLM & SJOB*.NLM)
  21. from all NN servers. Copy the new NLMs from NETNAV\NNINST\SYSTEM\. Restart the
  22. NN NLMs by running NWSDRUN at the servers. 5) Type
  23. NETNAV\PACKAGES\OS2CLINT.BAT to incorporate a SCHED-PM.EXE file into the
  24. required NNCLIENT.ZIP file. 6)See NN30C.TXT installation.

  36.      An error message is returned stating that there was a failure to connect
  37.      from DJOBSCHD or SJOBDMGR.  This failure is also indicated in Status
  38.      information for the distribution job in the NetWare Navigator
  39.      Administration console.
  40.  
  41. CAUSE
  42.  
  43.      Incompatible SMS and NetWare Navigator NLMs.  The service name changed in
  44.      recent releases of the SMS TSAs.
  45.  
  46. CAUSE
  47.  
  48.      The SMS TSAs and the NetWare Navigator NLMs you have do not work
  49.      together.
  50.  
  51. SYMPTOM
  52.  
  53.      NetWare Navigator cannot be installed on any volume other than the SYS:
  54.      volume.

  58.      Previous design.

  62.      After a Distribution Job is scheduled, it cannot be canceled.

  69.  
  70.      In some instances, you will receive a System Error SYS3175 when trying to
  71.      add the eighth event to the OS/2 Scheduler.
  72.  
  73. CAUSE
  74.  
  75.      The OS/2 Scheduler was performing a recursive action that was causing a
  76.      stack overflow.  This stack overflow is specific to using the PM
  77.      Interface for scheduling events and does not apply to scheduling events
  78.      from command line.
  79.  
  80. SYMPTOM
  81.  
  82.      Script log details can only be viewed at the Administration Console for
  83.      the default polling time of the Staging Server (8 minutes).  The script
  84.      log details are overwritten when the Administration Console receives the
  85.      feedback that a package was distributed.  This symptom ONLY pertains to
  86.      packages distributed with the Pull Distribution Method.

  88. CAUSE
  89.  
  90.      The feedback for script executions were erroneously being returned to the
  91.      Administration Console prior to the feedback on the package distribution.
  92.  
  93. SYMPTOM
  94.  
  95.      When playing back DOS keystrokes, erroneous ASCII characters may be
  96.      inserted into the keystroke file.
  97.  
  98. CAUSE
  99.  
  100.      Special keystroke functions, such as <WAITSEC nn>, were not being handled
  101.      properly.
  102.  
  103. SYMPTOM
  104.  
  105.      In some circumstances, the script log details displayed at the
  106.      Administration Console are incomplete.
  107.  
  108. CAUSE
  109.  
  110.      For server names with less than 8 characters, embedded NULLs were being
  111.      read as an end of file.
  112.  
  113. SYMPTOM
  114.  
  115.      In some circumstances, editing files with the NNEDT command removes all
  116.      other contents of the edited file.
  117.  
  118. CAUSE
  119.  
  120.      When the same file is explicitly specified as the infile and the outfile
  121.      (using the /i and /o options) for the NNEDT command, and the workstation
  122.      is running DR DOS, the file handling was causing incorrect editing.

  124. SYMPTOM

  126.      Feedback from package script execution is not being returned to the
  127.      Administration Console.
  128.  
  129. CAUSE
  130.  
  131.      Workstations running DR DOS encountered problems with a VLM-based NetWare
  132.      requester.

  135.  
  136.      MS Windows applications that are scheduled as events from a package
  137.      script using the NNWIN SCHED command are not being executed.
  138.  
  139. CAUSE
  140.  
  141.      MS Windows events were being flagged incorrectly to use a command
  142.      processor that is not used for MS Windows applications.
  143.  
  144. SYMPTOM
  145.  
  146.      Using the No Replace option for Push distributions to client workstations
  147.      deletes the existing file on the workstation.
  148.  
  149. CAUSE
  150.  
  151.      Existing workstation files were being truncated to 0 bytes before
  152.      verification of the existence of the file was performed.
  153.  
  154. SYMPTOM
  155.  
  156.      Status code information for the condition of a disk being full was not
  157.      included in the online Help.
  158.  
  159. CAUSE
  160.  
  161.      The status code information was not included in the build of the online
  162.      Help.

  164. SOLUTIONS
  165.  
  166.      The symptoms listed above will be corrected after the NetWare Navigator
  167.      pre-built packages are distributed to the appropriate Distribution Lists.

  249.      1.   Specific NLMs must be loaded and unloaded at the Distribution Server
  250.           to put the changes in affect.
  251.  
  252.           WARNING: Before unloading and loading the NLMs, you must ensure that
  253.           there are no Active Jobs on that server.
  254.  
  255.           To unload the NLMs, type the following at command line:
  256.           UNLOAD SJOBDMGR <Enter>
  257.           UNLOAD SJOBFDBK <Enter>
  258.           UNLOAD DJOBSCHD <Enter>

  261.           To load the NLMs, type NWSDRUN <Enter>.

  263.           This may also be performed by using RCONSOLE if the Distribution
  264.           Server is set up appropriately.

  266.      2.   Using the NetWare Navigator Administration Console, distribute the
  267.           NetWare Navigator Staging Server Update 3.0 package to a
  268.           Distribution List containing all the NetWare Navigator Staging
  269.           Servers.
  270.  
  271.      3.   Specific NLMs must be loaded and unloaded at the Staging Servers to
  272.           put the changes in affect.

  274.           WARNING: Before unloading and loading the NLMs, you must ensure that
  275.           there are no Active Jobs on that server.

  289.      4.   Using the NetWare Navigator Administration Console, distribute the
  290.           NetWare Navigator DOS/Windows Client Update 2.0 package to a
  291.           Distribution List containing DOS client workstations.  This package
  292.           is specific to MS Windows clients; therefore, if MS Windows does not
  293.           exist on the client workstation, the workstation will not be
  294.           updated.
  295.  
  296.      5.   Using the NetWare Navigator Administration Console, distribute the
  297.           NetWare Navigator OS/2 Client Update 1.0 package to a Distribution
  298.           List containing OS/2 client workstations.
  299.  
  300.      Instructions for Selecting the Server Volume
  301.  
  302.      New functionality for NetWare Navigator 3.0 allows an administrator to
  303.      select the server volume on which to install NetWare Navigator 3.0.
  304.  
  305.      Insert the following step after step 2e on page 2-7 in the "NetWare
  306.      Navigator Administration Guide."
  307.  
  308.      ■    At the Volume Selection dialog box, select the volume where you want
  309.           to install NetWare Navigator and select OK.
  310.  
  311.           NetWare Navigator is installed on the volume you selected.
  312.  
  313.      Instructions for Canceling a Distribution Job
  314.  
  315.      New functionality has been added to NetWare Navigator 3.0 allowing
  316.      administrators to cancel a distribution job, providing that it has not
  317.      begun distribution.  Because access to the job queue is restricted to the
  318.      Administration Console user, it is not possible for anyone without
  319.      NetWare Navigator Administrator rights to cancel a job.
  320.  
  321.      Instructions for canceling distribution jobs and checking on their status
  322.      are provided in the following sections.
  323.  
  324.      ■    Canceling One or More Distribution Jobs
  325.  
  326.           To cancel one or more distribution jobs, perform the following
  327.           steps:
  328.  
  329.           1.   At the NetWare Navigator Administration Console, choose "Cancel
  330.                Job..." from the "File" menu.
  331.  
  332.                The "Cancel Job" dialog box displays, listing all the jobs
  333.                still in the queue and their scheduled distribution times.  If
  334.                any jobs are scheduled to begin distribution during the time
  335.                the "Cancel Job" dialog box is displayed, they will be held in
  336.                the queue until an action is completed at the "Cancel Job"
  337.                dialog box.
  338.  
  339.                For example, if a job is scheduled to be distributed at 8:05
  340.                a.m. on a certain date, and the "Cancel Job" dialog box is
  341.                opened at 8:04 a.m. on the same date, the job is held in the
  342.                queue until an action is taken at the "Cancel Job" dialog box. 
  343.                If the action taken is to cancel the job, the job is canceled. 
  344.                If the action taken is NOT to cancel the job, when the dialog
  345.                box is closed, the job begins distribution (provided that the
  346.                scheduled distribution time has passed).
  347.  
  348.           2.   Select one or more jobs from the list and select "OK."  (To
  349.                select more than one job, press and hold the <Shift> key while
  350.                using the mouse to select the jobs in the list.)
  351.  
  352.                The "Confirm" pop-up box displays the following message:
  353.  
  354.                "Do you want to cancel the selected distribution jobs?"
  355.                If a job has already begun distribution, it cannot be canceled,
  356.                and you receive the following error message "ERROR ACCESSING
  357.                QUEUE: queue_name".
  358.  
  359.           3.   Select "Yes" to cancel the jobs at the confirmation box.
  360.  
  361.                The "Cancel Job" dialog box closes, returning you to the
  362.                NetWare Navigator Administration Console.
  363.  
  364.                (If you select "No", the jobs are not canceled and the "Cancel
  365.                Job" dialog box closes.  If you select "Cancel" the jobs are
  366.                not canceled, but you remain at the Cancel Job" dialog box so
  367.                you can select other jobs.)

  369.      ■    Viewing the Status of Canceled Jobs
  370.  
  371.           Add the following information to page 3-38 in the "NetWare Navigator
  372.           Administration Guide."
  373.  
  374.           To view the status of canceled jobs, perform the following steps:
  375.  
  376.           1.   At the NetWare Navigator Administration Console, choose
  377.                "Completed Jobs..." from the "Status" menu.
  378.  
  379.                The "Completed Jobs" screen displays.  For the jobs you
  380.                canceled, in the Node Status field area, the number of failed
  381.                attempts to distribute the job is equal to the number of
  382.                targets in the distribution list.  The number of successful
  383.                attempts is zero.
  384.  
  385.           2.   Select the "Details" button.  The "Completed Job Details"
  386.                screen displays.
  387.  
  388.                For the jobs you canceled, the feedback message is "Canceled."
  389.

  404.           This file contains instructions for 1) distributing a  package from
  405.           a central distribution server to a remote distribution server, 2)
  406.           deinstalling NetWare Navigator 3.0, 3) customizing the drive on the
  407.           staging server that is accessed by clients during the distribution
  408.           process, and 4) a list of the NetWare Navigator files and their
  409.           purpose.

  413.           This file contains system and error messages for NetWare  Navigator
  414.           3.0.  Messages in this document include: A) Administration Console
  415.           Error Messages, B) Distribution Server Error Messages, C)
  416.           Distribution Server System Messages, D) Staging Server Error
  417.           Messages, E) Staging Server System Messages, and F) DOS/MS Windows
  418.           Client Error Messages.

  430.      ■    NetWare Navigator can be installed on any volume.
  431.  
  432.      ■    Online help has been updated to include help for the new Volume
  433.           Selection dialog box.
  434.  
  435.      ■    A Distribution Job that has been scheduled but has not begun
  436.           distribution can be canceled.
  437.  
  438.      ■    Online help has been updated to include help for the new Cancel Job
  439.           dialog box.
  440.  
  441.      ■    The recursive action was removed from the OS/2 Scheduler.
  442.  
  443.      ■    Feedback on a package distribution is returned to the Administration
  444.           Console before any feedback on script executions.
